The Regional Board serves as the local partner for federal investments for the Appalachian Regional Commission and Economic Development Administration. Our responsibility is to bring forward the region's most impactful investments to federal partners. As community partners across 8 rural counties in New York State, we support asset-based economic development & building supportive ecosystems for private sector growth.
The Southern Tier culture understands manufacturing and offers a complete package of support teams in planning and economic development, designated in 2023, as "1 of 31" USA's Tech Hubs, from the birthplace of IBM and Chobani, with many small supply chain companies. The Southern Tier is home to an outstanding educational system from grade school, tech workforce training and eleven universities... including Cornell and Binghamton University, home to Nobel Laurate Dr Stan Whittingham.
