What it is.

The Southern Tier's shrinking workforce has a significant impact on the region's private sector growth potential.  While following national trends in opioid use, the Southern Tier leads alcohol addiction across Appalachia (all 13 states).  To encourage hope, reduce stigma and support those in recovery gain employment, Southern Tier 8 has supported several initiative supporting the Recovery-to-Work Ecosystem Development in bringing together partners in Workforce, treatment, prevention and wellness, sharing effective strategies with the ARC & the Development District Association of Appalachia (DDAA) Learning Academy with the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness and supporting local ARC investments.

Partners include Workforce Boards, Chambers, Treatment Providers and Prevention Education Providers.

What it accomplishes.

Addressing the region's SUD Crisis through development of Recovery-to-Work Ecosystem and building support for workforce readiness AND workplace wellness.

Just since 2021, several Programs have been funded to support workforce development, and a performance impact report will be posted here in the first quarter of 2025.
