What it is.
A Technical Assistance Program to support communities with their Climate Smart Communities Development, by connecting the community needs with adequate resources (such as community education & outreach, advocacy support, strategic planning and community investment).
Under the direction of the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the staff is currently focused on providing technical assistance to communities in Broome, Delaware & Tioga Counties, while also sharing professional development opportunities and state-wide resources for all 8-member counties. (Please note that this CSC program is unique from NYSERDA’s Climate Energy Communities (CEC) and our staff can help navigate the differences in the State programs and local resources).
What it accomplishes.
Local community development for achieving New York State’s Climate Action Goals, as prioritized in the 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act).
